Dr. Brauer is a passionate Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon at Alberta Children’s Hospital and she has a special interest in the upper extremity. She is also an Assistant Professor in the Division of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Calgary.

Some of her personal hobbies include skiing, skating, hiking, as well as spending quality time with her family.

Education

Dr. Brauer completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Alberta and her medical degree followed by Orthopedic Residency training both at the University of Calgary.  She completed a Masters of Science in Health Economics at the University of York, United Kingdom. Over the years, Dr. Brauer has completed a grand total of three fellowships. Her first fellowship was in Orthopedic Surgery at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Canada. In 2003 she went on to complete a Hand Surgical Fellowship at the University of Calgary and later in 2007 a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery Fellowship at the University of British Columbia, BC Children’s Hospital.

Going beyond traditional surgical research interests, Dr. Brauer has focused a lot of her research in the economic and administrative factors surrounding orthopaedic care.
