Research Projects

Ava is currently a student at the University of Calgary. She is entering into her third year of her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology, with plans to pursue a career in medicine/sports medicine.

 

It’s Ava’s second summer with the SCRUBS team, where she has been working on a variety of projects and day-to-day tasks. Ava has been actively involved in clinic, recruiting participants for PEAK, a study focused on mental health and weight-related outcomes following ankle surgery. In the office, she spends her time looking into the long-term outcomes of scaphoid non-union injury patterns and retrospectively investigating any correlations between total hip and knee replacements and dementia diagnoses. Additionally, Ava has been developing a new study examining the biometrics of orthopedic surgeons throughout the day as they work in different occupational settings.

In her free time, you’ll most likely find Ava doing some sort of crafty project, spending time with her friends, or outside enjoying the sunshine.
