Dr. Batuyong has worked as an Orthopaedic Surgeon at the South Health Campus since 2013, and became the South Health Campus Orthopaedic Site Chief in 2018. He specializes in total joint reconstruction and lower extremity injuries (his favourite bone is the femur).
When he’s not working he spends his time with family and is a proud dad. According to other surgeons at our site, Dr. Batuyong also spends “more time at the zoo than anyone in Calgary.”
Education
He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Calgary and his medical degree at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry (London, Ontario) before returning to Calgary for his Orthopaedic Surgery residency in 2006.
Dr. Batuyong completed two Fellowships. In 2012 he completed The VIctorian Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Clinical Fellowship (Richmond, Victoria, Australia) and in 2013 he completed the Adult Total Joint Reconstruction Fellowship at Stanford University (Redwood City, California, USA).
research interests
Outside of his clinical work, Dr. Batuyong is involved in multiple projects related to lower extremity injury management. He is an asset to the SCRUBS team and recruits to ongoing clinical trials, particularly those related to joint arthroplasty and orthopaedic trauma.
